Lewis Hamilton didn't win his eighth world title in 2021 and lost out to Max Verstappen, but nevertheless remains one of the greatest drivers ever and is an inspiration to many young drivers. Both for talents outside and inside F1. Mick Schumacher, for example, comes to the Brit for advice.
That Hamilton is hard at work for the global racing community is no news. The seven-time world champion has a large fan base and likes to use his influence to inspire young drivers and increase diversity in motorsport. The Brit says he gets a lot of power from this. In conversation with Motorsport-total.com he says he is proud of the new generation of F1 drivers.
Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton have together claimed 11 World titles. The two veterans are the two drivers who most often stand up for important world issues. Hamilton is happy with the support he gets from Vettel and hopes that together they can inspire young drivers.
Schumacher and Norris come to Hamilton for advice
That Hamilton inspires young drivers, is something he immediately sees on the grid. The Mercedes driver tells us that Mick Schumacher sometimes approaches him directly and asks for advice. Schumacher admits to Hamilton that he still has a lot to learn and hopes the Briton can help him in some way. The same goes for Lando Norris, Hamilton says.
