Little difference between Hamilton and Verstappen: 'They are similar'

The 2021 Formula 1 season was Antonio Giovinazzi's last for the time being. Alfa Romeo decided to say goodbye to the Italian at the end of the year, and opted for a brand new pairing of drivers. In conversation with Corriere della Serra, Giovinazzi looks back on the title fight between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.
Giovinazzi's season was not a particularly exciting one. With a 10 place finish at the Monaco Grand Prix and ninth place finish in Saudi Arabia, the Italian only managed to score points for his team on two occasions. At the end of the season he finished with only three points, holding off only Mick Schumacher, Robert Kubica and Nikita Mazepin.
Giovinazzi has respect for Hamilton and Verstappen
During the season the driver was able to see the fight between Hamilton and Verstappen from close by. He had to retire early in the last race, so he was able to follow the battle with a lot of interest. Giovinazzi stressed in the interview that he has a lot of respect for both drivers and therefore has no intention of choosing between Verstappen and Hamilton.
"They are similar, very aggressive," says Giovinazzi, who looks back on a historic year. "In Abu Dhabi I unfortunately had to retire, but from the pits at least I enjoyed the last lap. They both deserved the title."
