Talented Schumacher can always count on Vettel's help

One is a four-time world champion and slowly approaching the end of his career. The other is the son of a Formula 1 legend and is still at the beginning of his career. A world of difference. Yet Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher have found each other.
Tyre via Michael
Of course, a factor is that Vettel and Schumacher are both from Germany. As fellow countrymen it is easy to imagine that the experienced Vettel feels a duty to take Schumacher junior under his wing. Yet that is not the case, says Vettel in the German newspaper Bild. It is true that there is a bond through Michael (Schumacher). "Mick comes from a very good family. He is a very sensible, well educated young man who is now ready to go his own way", says Vettel.
Schumacher had no child to teammate Nikita Mazepin last season. It was his only benchmark, because the Haas was not able to move forward. Schumacher was almost always in the rearguard, he didn't score any points. Nevertheless Vettel praised Schumacher. The Aston Martin driver says he sees the work ethic of his father Michael in Mick.
Friend
For next season Vettel hopes for a better car for Schumacher. If the youngster wants advice, he can always ask the veteran driver for help. Although you can't call it mentorship. "I'm more of a friend than someone who feels responsibility. You're always there for friends. In doing so, I feel zero competition with him and am happy to pass on my experience."
