Aston Martin must look for a new team boss after Szafnauer's departure

After a long career in Formula 1, Aston Martin has said goodbye to team boss Otmar Szafnauer. It is still unclear why he is leaving the team of Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel, but it may have something to do with the rumours that have been circulating in the paddock for the past few months.
Szafnauer has spent 12 years in Formula 1, working for Force India/Racing Point and Aston Martin among others, but now it seems that it's time for another adventure. It is unclear at the moment who the new team boss will be at Aston Martin, but until then several people will take over his duties.
The British team does not want to make a decision too soon, but rather wants to evaluate all options. At the moment finding a new team boss is not a priority: "The focus of the team is currently on preparing the most competitive car possible for the start of the 2022 season," the team says in the official press release.
To Alpine?
In November there were rumours that the American Szafnauer would be transferred to Alpine. In a press conference on 12 November he was asked about his future, but he did not want to say anything about the rumours. At that time it was already clear that the former Aston Martin team boss saw a switch to another team as an option, as he did not dare to promise that he would stay with the British team. Whether Szafnauer will actually go to Alpine is still uncertain.
