Ferrari exudes clear ambition: 'That will be important for us'

Ferrari has returned to an upward trend after the dramatic year of 2020. The Italian racing team hopes to continue on that path next season by once again competing with Mercedes and Red Bull Racing, although Mattia Binotto realizes that this challenge is difficult, he said in an interview with The Race.
The Ferrari team boss worked hard behind the scenes in recent years to get the team back on its feet. In this he succeeded like no other. With the talented Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz the Italians hope to have the right ingredients to achieve results in the coming years. Ideally, Ferrari would like to compete with Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
Because of the new regulations, that possibility seems completely open. The formation worked hard behind the scenes in 2021 to prepare the car for the next season and thus increase the chances of becoming world champions. Despite that effort, however, Binotto expects the challenge to be difficult in order to compete at the front.
Binotto's goals for 2022
Binotto has given his team some clear objectives. "What will be important for us next year is to keep on growing. And it is to further reduce the gap to the competitors," stated Binotto, who personally still expresses little confidence that Ferrari can actually take on Mercedes and Red Bull. "The gap is still big."
