Vettel took quitting into consideration: 'Of course'
- GPblog.com
Kimi Raikkonen said goodbye to the Formula One world at the end of 2021. The Finnish driver thought it was time to leave the sport and concentrate on other things in life. Sebastian Vettel can well understand that thought.
The German drove with Raikkonen for many years at Ferrari and therefore knows the Finn like no other. As more and more older drivers choose to retire from Formula 1, Vettel also considered it in the recent times. However, Vettel came to the conclusion that he is not ready yet, as he explained in an interview with Sport1.de.
Vettel frankly admitted in the interview that this question sometimes plays on his mind. "Of course you sometimes ask yourself the question if you are enjoying yourself. I would be lying if I said the thought hadn't occurred to me yet."
However, Vettel's fans need not fear that he is leaving soon, he stresses. "The fire is still burning."
Rich career of Vettel
Vettel made his debut with Sauber in 2007, after which he made the switch to Toro Rosso. He then traded that team for Red Bull Racing, with whom he won four world titles. After six seasons at Ferrari, he's spent the 2021 season with Aston Martin where he'll race again this year.
