Gasly learned a lot in 2021: 'Was more involved'
- GPblog.com
Pierre Gasly can look back on his most consistent season so far in Formula 1. The Frenchman scored points in fifteen races last season and tells how he experienced his season.
Gasly had an excellent season at AlphaTauri in 2021. The Frenchman drove regularly in the points and impressed friend and foe with rock-solid qualifications. In total, Gasly scored 110 points which helped AlphaTauri to finish sixth among the constructors.
Gasly had more influence
Gasly sees 2021 mainly as a season in which he learned a lot. This was partly due to the appointment of rookie teammate Yuki Tsunoda. "I had a bit more responsibility in the direction we take, and I feel I’ve learned a lot technically from being more involved," he speaks at F1.com.
According to Gasly, AlphaTauri is especially strong in qualifying, but he says the team made a step forward over the entire weekend. In addition, he is happy that for the first time he could drive two full seasons in a row at the same team.
Last season at AlphaTauri?
2022 could just be Gasly's last season at AlphaTauri. The Frenchman's contract is expiring and he seems ready for a step forward on the grid. It is not yet clear whether he will lay claim to Sergio Perez's Red Bull Racing seat.
