Racing Bulls
Racing Bulls or Visa Cash App Racing Bulls (VCARB) is an Italian Formula 1 team. Its 2025 drivers were Yuki Tsunoda and Isack Hadjar, but Yuki got promoted to Red Bull Racing for the Japanese Grand Prix. Liam Lawson returned from his short spell at Red Bull Racing for the seat alongside Isack.
Racing Bulls in F1
The Racing Bulls F1 team has had many names since its takeover of Mindari in 2006. The team was bought by the Red Bull conglomerate Red Bull GmbH and has used the name Scuderia Toro Rosso from 2006-2019, Scuderia AlphaTauri from 2020-2023, and then for the 2024 season it went by RB, which has now been changed to stand for Racing Bulls for the 2025 season.
Racing Bulls was formed as a junior team to Red Bull Racing. This allowed them to train their drivers in Formula 1 before moving them up into Red Bull. Some of those drivers include Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Riccardo, Max Verstappen, and Carlos Sainz. In 2020, with the rebrand to AlphaTauri, Racing Bulls moved away from being a junior team to a sister team.
The brief Verstappen era
One week before the Belgian GP, Vergne got the bad news: he was in his final season at Toro Rosso and would be replaced by Max Verstappen in 2015. The Dutchman was only 16 years old at the time, but would have the chance to prove himself at a young age. That did not happen alongside Kvyat, as the Russian moved on to Red Bull to replace the departing Sebastian Vettel.
Vergne hoped that departure would still allow him to stay at Toro Rosso, but Red Bull chose otherwise. The team appointed Carlos Sainz to keep Verstappen company (future teammate Pierre Gasly was also on the list of candidates). A golden choice, it would turn out, with Verstappen managing to finish fourth twice in his first season and accumulate 49 points. Sainz had to settle for 18 points.
After one year and a few races in 2016, Kvyat had to move back to Toro Rosso, and Verstappen took the spot at Red Bull. That season, Sainz remained the permanent face at Toro Rosso, but the team replaced Kvyat with Gasly for the Malaysian GP (and GPs thereafter). As part of the announced switch to Honda engines for the 2018 STR13, it loaned Sainz to Renault's team (replacing Jolyon Palmer there) and Brendon Hartley took his place at Toro Rosso. Hartley-Gasly would also form the Toro Rosso duo in 2018.
Racing Bull driver changes
In 2019, it brought Kvyat back to Toro Rosso and brought in Alexander Albon as a rookie from Formula 2 to take a seat alongside the Russian. Gasly, in turn, was allowed to make his appearance at Red Bull. There, however, he failed to come into form and a relegation to Toro Rosso beckoned. Albon and Kvyat both had their sights set on that seat, but Helmut Marko eventually opted to transfer Albon to Red Bull during the summer break.
In 2020, AlphaTauri's goal (the team's new name to raise awareness of Red Bull's clothing brand) was to match its 2019 record (sixth in the constructors' championship). With Kvyat and Gasly achieving seventh place, it also struggled in the opening stages of the season. During the season, however, things got better and better, with Gasly's victory at Monza being the ultimate proof.
After still battling for fifth place with Alpine in 2021, AlphaTauri made a huge decline in 2022. Gasly and Tsunoda finished only sporadically in the points and the team finished the season in penultimate place. In 2023, the racing stable raced with Tsunoda and Riccardo after Gasly moved on to Alpine.
RB in 2024
In 2024, RB started the season with Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Riccardo but ended the season with Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson. Shortly after, Lawson was called up to Red Bull Racing once again, leaving Tsunoda on the sister team. RB finished 8th in the championship standings with 46 points. It was announced in 2024 that they would undergo a name change once again, now known as Racing Bulls.
