Ferrari starts testing in preparation for the new season
- GPblog.com
The Ferrari team will test this week for the first time in 2022 with three different drivers at the Fiorano circuit. The test is part of the preparation for the new season.
Robert Schwartzman will kick off the four-day test as the team's new test driver, followed by Charles Leclerc on Wednesday and Carlos Sainz on Thursday, Ferrari reports on the website. Fiorano is the team's private circuit for test days and development purposes.
The test has become a tradition within the Italian team to give the drivers, engineers and mechanics a chance to get back up to speed before the start of the season. It allows them to practice the procedures that take place during a Grand Prix weekend. The last time the teams were in action was back in December during the Pirelli test days.
Waiting for official test days
The Ferrari drivers will not drive the new car, but instead the 2021 car, the SF21. The official test days do not start until February 23, but Ferrari wants to warm up the team already. The new car will be presented on February 17.
