The F1 winter break is slowly creeping on towards its end. The unveilings and winter tests will take place later this month, but this coming weekend it's already time for action for some F1 drivers at the Race of Champions.
Three F1 drivers in action this weekend
This weekend on Saturday, February 5 and Sunday, February 6, the Race of Champions will be held at Pite Havsbad in Sweden. On Saturday the so-called Nations Cup will be driven and on Sunday comes the individual tournament. On the bill are many big names in the racing world, including several F1 drivers. It was already clear for some time that Valtteri Bottas would participate in the race. Bottas competes for the Finnish team along with none other than former F1 champion Mika Hakkinen.
Germany will enter the race with a full F1 team consisting of four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher. We also see big and well-known names such as rally phenomenon Sebastian Loeb, six-time IndyCar race winner Colton Herta, seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson, David Coulthard, and two-time W Series winner Jamie Chadwick.
Bottas and Vettel in duel
Bottas and Vettel have already qualified for the eighth-finals of the individual cup and will face each other in that first round according to the draw. Schumacher has to start one step lower against Chadwick and could then possibly only advance to the eighth final against Herta of Helio Castroneves. The location and terrain of the event will make for spectacular racing, as the Swedish village is covered in ice and snow.
