Piero Ferrari understood little about new F1 rules: 'It's like MasterChef'

Formula 1 will face quite a few rule changes next season. Ferrari will want to catch up with Mercedes and Red Bull Racing this season, but not everyone at the Italian car brand found the new rules easy to understand.
New regulations look like MasterChef
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Piero Ferrari, co-owner and vice president of Ferrari, admits that he had trouble understanding the new rules. When he has to explain to friends exactly what has changed in the regulations, he compares it to the cooking show MasterChef. "We were given the ingredients and then there is someone who cooks a delicious dish and someone who does less."
Ferrari managed to find its way back up a bit last season after its disappointing 2020 season. The team finished third in the constructors' championship and Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc were on the podium or in pole position a number of times. In 2022, the team would of course like to be back competing for victories.
Ferrari did not understand new rules
According to Piero Ferrari, the rules were not changed but rewritten. "I read them, but I really struggled to understand them," said the son of Enzo Ferrari. Hopefully the designers of the F1-75 did understand the rules correctly. Ferrari's new Formula One car will be presented on February 17, six days before the first test days in Barcelona.
