Jacques Villeneuve pulled off a stunt with his first entry in the Daytona 500. For the first time in his life, the Canadian qualified for this race in NASCAR, after a previous attempt in 2008.

Villeneuve already has a rich career in motor racing. The Canadian and son of Gilles Villeneuve is not the youngest at fifty years old, but he achieved a unique feat in his career. With 36th place in qualifying, he assured himself a place in the Daytona 500. Something he never managed to do before.

Unique for Villeneuve

Villeneuve will race for Team Hezeberg, which was founded by Dutchman Toine Hezemans. The new team also debuts as a brand in the Daytona 500. ''Of course, it's not a win like the Indy 500 or world F1 title, but at this point in my career, this is great. We're a small team and it's unexpected that this has happened,'' Villeneuve said according to Racer.com.

Villeneuve made a name for himself in motorsports by winning the Indy 500 and the IndyCar championship in 1995, before forcing a move to Formula One in 1996. In his first year he was already fighting for the world title, only to win it in 1997. To this day, the Canadian still races, but is mainly in the spotlight because of his statements around Formula 1.
