No competition within McLaren: Ricciardo wants to work with Norris
- GPblog.com
In Formula 1, your teammate is your biggest competitor. Your car can be as bad as you want to beat your stablemate, as all drivers know. This sometimes leads to extra tensions within a team, as the past has often shown.
Pushing in the right direction
It is true that Daniel Ricciardo won the Grand Prix at Monza last year, but the rest of the season he was frequently beaten by his young McLaren teammate Lando Norris. Undoubtedly, the good-humored Australian is keen to keep Norris behind him more often this season. The psychological warfare could therefore already start during the first tests in Barcelona.
But there is no question of that with Ricciardo, as he tells among others FormulaPassion. "I'm talking to Lando. I think now is an important moment to work with him. We need to be on the same page to push the team in the right direction," Ricciardo says.
Good impression
McLaren made a fine impression during the first week of testing in Barcelona. Together with Ferrari, the team was the surprise, and seems to have a serious chance of challenging Red Bull and Mercedes this season.
