Masi loses job: 'I'm glad they did it'
- GPblog.com
The FIA announced this month that it was parting ways with Michael Masi as race director. According to Stefan Johansson, this was the only correct decision that the organization around Formula 1 could make, as he says on his own website.
The race management could count on a lot of criticism last season. Not only were there major doubts about the decisions that took place during the last Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi, but also at other times he did not look good. Therefore, the FIA decided to intervene and set up a different structure for next season.
"I’m glad they did it," Johansson stressed. "There seems to be mixed feelings in the F1 paddock, but I have the feeling that comes down more to what personal relationship some people had with him, rather than looking objectively at the job he did since he took on the role."
Verstappen disagrees with the FIA
Max Verstappen, on the other hand, spoke out very critically about the FIA's decision earlier. According to him, the organization slaughtered Masi, while points out that improvement could be achieved in other areas. He therefore openly expressed his support for the former race director.
