Leclerc tempers expectations around Ferrari
- GPblog.com
Ferrari had an excellent start to the pre-season test last week. The Italian racing stable impressed Formula 1 connoisseurs with the F1-75, but according to Charles Leclerc, it is important for his team not to cheer too early.
The team of Carlos Sainz and Leclerc experienced a low point in its history in 2020 by finishing sixth in the Constructors' Championship. Last year several improvements were already noticeable at Ferrari and in 2022 the team hopes to return permanently among the top teams in Formula 1.
Thanks to the new regulations, Ferrari has plenty of chances to achieve this goal, but it still needs to beat Red Bull Racing, Mercedes and McLaren. During the Spanish test days, Ferrari seemed to succeed in laying the foundations to do so. However, Leclerc is convinced that this still says little about the coming months, he told Formule1.nl.
Leclerc positive about Ferrari car
Leclerc has little to complain about the performance of his new car. The Monegasque enjoyed driving the F1-75 on the track and indicates in the interview that Ferrari was far from showing all it has to offer. He expects Ferrari to test the engine further in Bahrain, when the teams get another chance of testing.
