The Formula 1 drivers had the opportunity to prepare for the new season during the three test days in Barcelona last week. Carlos Sainz, among others, was positive about the new tyres that are on the cars.
The teams have to deal with several changes to the cars this season, including having larger wheels on the car. In fact, this coming season the drivers will be driving around with 18-inch tires. It took Sainz a while to get used to the car in Barcelona, but he soon noticed a big improvement.
The Spaniard drove around with Ferrari last season and notices that the tyres are a lot better this year. "I feel like it's a bit better," he let F1i.com know. "The work done by Pirelli last year and the development seems to start to pay off a bit."
High expectations from Ferrari
Ferrari left a positive impression in Spain and will continue to work behind the scenes in the coming weeks to be ready on March 19. That's when the first qualifying session of the season is scheduled in Bahrain, followed a day later by the opening race.
