Leclerc notices pressure on Ferrari: 'Still high expectations'

Charles Leclerc has not had an easy time at Ferrari. However, after the dramatic 2020 season, the Italian racing stable has found its feet again. This season, ambitions to compete for the world title are alive and well again.
When the Monegasque decided to leave Alfa Romeo for Ferrari at the end of 2018, a dream came true for Leclerc. The driver hoped to compete for the world championship at Ferrari, only to find out in his first year that Mercedes was still too fast. In 2020 and 2021 this also proved to be the case, but this calendar year Ferrari hopes to be there.
Ferrari wants to win the world title again
The new regulations should make it possible for Ferrari to close the gap with the competition and fight until the end of the season. According to Leclerc, Ferrari must also want to put that pressure on themselves, he says in an interview with Canal Sports Club.
"That's for sure," he answers when asked if Ferrari should compete for the world title. "The last two years have been complicated for the team. For Ferrari, there are still high expectations. There is always an expectation to see Ferrari fight for the top positions. After the last two years, it is difficult. But I think we have responded very well."
