Haas ends test week on a high: Schumacher sets second time
- GPblog.com
While for nine teams the test week was over at 4 pm British time in Bahrain, Haas F1 could drive some extra hours to make up for the lost time on Thursday. The team did a good job, as Mick Schumacher set a good second time.
2022 got off to a rough start for Haas, as Russian driver Nikita Mazepin had to be abruptly fired due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. With that, Haas also lost its title sponsor. An extra problem was that the cargo to be sent to Bahrain was significantly delayed.
Fast times from Haas
Just before the test week started, there was finally some good news for the team: Kevin Magnussen is making a comeback at the American team and has signed a multi-year deal. Haas was also told by the FIA that it could make up for Thursday's lost morning on Friday and Saturday. Magnussen set the fastest time of the day on Friday in the extra time the team got.
On Saturday, it was Mick Schumacher's turn to drive some extra hours. The German drove 85 laps and set a neat second time, only Max Verstappen was faster. It is still early to draw conclusions, but the future of Haas looks a bit brighter after the last two test days.
