Max Verstappen became Formula One world champion in 2021 and has thus achieved his goal. He recently renewed his contract at Red Bull Racing and despite his goal being achieved, he hopes for more championships.

Verstappen has achieved his goal in Formula 1 now that he has won his first championship. The Dutchman has extended his contract with Red Bull through 2028, linking him to the team until he is 31 years old.

Less pressure on Verstappen

Despite having achieved his goal, the reigning champion says he wants to win more championships. Of course I hope for more championships, but even if that doesn't work out I think we've already reached the highest," he says in conversation with Verstappen.com.

The Dutchman can start the coming season a bit more relaxed in Formula 1: "I also hope for just nice seasons with good races in which we have fun together. In the end, that is also important," he concludes.

Defending first title

Verstappen will defend his first world title in 2022, something few drivers have managed in the history of Formula 1. According to Sky Sports F1 analysts Martin Brundle and Anthony Davidson, Red Bull has at least come out of the winter very well.
