Russell on Mercedes chances: 'I trust in my team'

George Russell made the switch to Mercedes this season to fight for the world title, but so far his new team is not managing to compete for the front positions. However, the Briton is confident that things will improve soon.
Due to the new regulations, Mercedes is searching for the right balance of the car. As a result, Red Bull Racing and Ferrari have a better car than the German team at the moment. Russell knows better than anyone that this could change over the course of the season, as he explains in an interview with the BBC.
"At the moment we know that if we do absolutely everything perfectly we still don't have the pace in the car to fight with the Red Bull and Ferrari," Russell states honestly, who nevertheless remains hopeful for the world title. "I trust in my team and if anyone can overcome these issues I am sure Mercedes can."
Mercedes fears tough weekend in Saudi Arabia
Despite the car's performance, Mercedes managed to secure third and fourth in the opening race in Bahrain. This coming weekend, the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix is on the program and the racing stable, however, fears to face difficult days again.
