Horner sees Mercedes returning soon: 'Then it's between six drivers'

For Red Bull Racing, a new era has arrived in 2022 with a battle against Ferrari. Christian Horner discusses the difference between Ferrari and Mercedes, but also guards against a return to the front of the German team.
Racing with Ferrari
In 2022, Ferrari and Red Bull Racing seem to be calling the shots. The two teams split the first two wins in the new season and Mercedes was far behind in qualifying and the race. Helmut Marko already let it be known that he is happy that the battle this year is with Ferrari and not Mercedes, but Horner let himself be a little more diplomatic.
''Racing Ferrari is always slightly different. They're such a long-standing team in Formula 1 and it's not perhaps some of the animosities that had grown between our other rivals. They're a great team, they've got great drivers,'' says the Briton at Sky Sports.
Return of Mercedes
Although it is now between Ferrari and Red Bull Racing, Horner is convinced that Mercedes will strike back. The German team is still struggling very much with the W13 at the moment and the bouncing in particular is a huge problem. If that is solved, however, Horner believes Mercedes will be a good competitor again.
''When Mercedes get their problems sorted they're going to be in there so that's potentially six drivers who are going to be in contention every weekend. For the fans that's going to be fantastic,'' the Red Bull Racing team boss concludes.
