Verstappen disappointed: 'Doesn't make sense now to believe in title'

After only three Grands Prix, Max Verstappen is already 46 World Cup points behind Charles Leclerc. With twenty Grands Prix to go there are still plenty of weekends in which this gap can be turned into a lead, but Verstappen does not want to think about that for the time being. He indicated this after his DNF in Australia.
Whereas Verstappen crashed out in Bahrain with a fuel supply problem, in Melbourne it again seemed to go wrong somewhere with the fuel. The only thing that might give the Dutchman a little hope is that the engine probably survived the breakdown.
Verstappen is fed up
"It's still a long season, but this way I need 45 races," Verstappen said at De Telegraaf. At the moment he is not thinking about a prolongation of his world title in Formula 1. "At the moment there is no point in believing in the title."
The Limburger says he is frustrated, but he also knows that he cannot change anything. The team in Milton Keynes will now have to work hard to come up with a definitive solution before the Grand Prix at Imola. According to Verstappen it is complicated and Red Bull does not have one clear or easy solution at the moment.
Marko announces updates
At Albert Park, Ferrari was better on all fronts. For Imola some updates are planned though. In particular, the RB18 should lose extra kilos. Helmut Marko revealed that the Red Bull is ten kilos heavier than the F1-75, so it loses about three tenths in that area alone. Time gains are only of no use if the finish line is not reached, so that will undoubtedly be priority number one.
