Max Verstappen is fighting alongside Charles Leclerc for the world title this season. This is not the first time that the two men have faced each other, as they were also rivals during their careers in karting. Things were not always sporty, as both men remember.

Whereas last season the Dutchman fought alongside Lewis Hamilton for first place in the world championship, this season it is Leclerc who is up against him. Verstappen does not have an easy time of it, because the Monegasque is now far ahead in the standings.

Verstappen sees clear change compared to the past

However, this is largely due to two dropouts that Verstappen experienced in the first three races. Verstappen is therefore keen to fight his way back into the championship and make things difficult for Leclerc, just as he did in the past. According to Verstappen, however, enough has changed with the years when they were to be admired in the karting world.

"We've matured a lot," Verstappen stressed on the FIA press conference. "And we're both in Formula 1. We're we are two top teams and are fighting for race wins. What happened in go-karting, you can laugh about it now. Yeah, good times!"
