Max Verstappen has been named the best sportsman in the world. He will be presented with the Laureus Award for this. The price is known as the Oscar in sports.
First Dutchman
It is the first time that a Dutchman has won this prestigious prize. In this competition, Verstappen defeated tennis player Novak Djokovic, swimmer Caeleb Dressel, athlete Eliud Kipochage, American football player Tom Brady and football player Robert Lewandowski.
Undoubtedly, Verstappen will receive the prize for capturing the F1 world title in an amazing battle with Lewis Hamilton.
Mercedes
The Laureus World Sports Awards are presented annually by the company Laureus International Media Office. Noteworthy: the award is sponsored by Mercedes-Benz and the watch factory IWC Schaffhausen (a sponsor of the Mercedes F1 team).
