Red Bull Racing appeared in Imola with some updates. These contributed to the RB18 of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez coming alive especially on the Saturday and Sunday. Ferrari had a hard time with The Red Bull drivers and it showed in the final standings. Verstappen dominated the weekend and picked up 34 points. Perez closed in nicely on P2, while Sainz scored no points on Sunday. Leclerc also threw it away due to a rare driver mistake in the Variante Alta.
Schumacher says that this weekend's dominant Red Bull can really be overtaken again by Ferrari in the coming races, but the German says in his column on the German Sky Sports also that the Scuderia's performance at their home Grand Prix was a tragedy: "The car was there and the opportunity was there. Both drivers just made too many mistakes this weekend. They now have to get that all back on track."
