Tsunoda sees progress at AlphaTauri: 'The car was really good'

Yuki Tsunoda made a very positive impression during the Imola Grand Prix. The Japanese rider finished a neat seventh place and scored six points for his team. He himself is still positively surprised by his performance.
Due to the new engine regulations, AlphaTauri hopes to make big strides towards the sub-top of the driver field this calendar year, but in the early stages of the season this didn't turn out to be as easy as thought. Since the qualities of the cars are very close to each other, it is simply complicated for AlphaTauri to distinguish itself.
Tsunoda is proud of its own achievement
AlphaTauri has therefore been working hard on the car behind the scenes for the past few weeks. The results are now noticeable. Whereas Pierre Gasly had a hard time in Italy and didn't get further than a thirteenth place, Tsunoda managed to finish in the points. It makes the driver feel proud.
"The car was really good. We didn't expect that good," judges Tusnoda in conversation with Formula1.com. "Especially compared to Australia we made really good progress through the week and I'm happy with what I've done today."
