Charles Leclerc made a big mistake at the Grand Prix in Imola. The Monegasque pulled out all the stops to overtake his predecessor Sergio Perez, but a spin on his car left him in sixth place. However, the driver remains confident in his abilities, he told The Race.

Before the GP in Italy, Leclerc received plenty of compliments on the calmness he exuded in the first three races. In Imola, however, things went wrong. Although he seemed almost certain to finish third, he wanted to go for more and cut himself in half by scoring fewer points.

However, Leclerc knows that it is in him to take risks sometimes. "I’ve always been strong at knowing exactly which particular feeling I felt at that moment of the race and know how to correct it," Leclerc explained. "So yeah, it’s a mistake, but I’ll learn from it and then won’t do it again."

However, several analysts see a connection with the crashes that Carlos Sainz experienced in the last races. The Spaniards had to drop out early in both Australia and Italy. According to Emerson Fittipaldi, both drivers want too much, so the pressure becomes too high and they start making mistakes.
