Verstappen balks at problems: "This is an extremely painful day"
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen has started the weekend in Miami poorly. The Dutchman had to deal with problems during both sessions, which meant that he was limited in action. On the brand new circuit, Verstappen can't use that well.
During the first free practice session, Verstappen only drove fourteen laps after his RB18 had problems with overheating. As a precaution, Red Bull Racing changed his gearbox before the start of FP2, causing the Dutchman to start the session already delayed.
'Painful day' for Verstappen
After Carlos Sainz' s red flag, the Red Bull driver was able to drive out again, but he didn't last long. Soon Verstappen was sounding off over the team radio about problems with the steering wheel. The Dutchman had to return to the pit lane immediately and did not return to action for the rest of the session.
"This is an extremely painful day. Especially here you want to get to know the track, but I only did four or five fast laps. We now have zero info regarding my car here," the Dutchman is quoted by journalist Erik van Haren on Twitter.
