The weekend of the highly anticipated Miami Grand Prix did not start as hoped for Max Verstappen. On Friday he spent a lot of time in the Red Bull Racing garage, where there was busy tinkering to solve problems with the RB18.
Even before free practice on Friday, he told Viaplay in conversation how he assesses his chances for this weekend. He also explained why he has chosen a special helmet design and merchandise collection.
"It's a special Grand Prix and of course the very first one for us. I think everyone was generally looking forward to it, so I thought it would be nice to do something special," explained the Dutchman.
Verstappen does not expect a repeat of Imola
As for his expectations for the weekend, he could not say much yet, but the Red Bull driver already foresaw possible problems due to the heat in Miami. "Of course I hope it will be a very boring race for me, a bit like Imola. But that will be difficult, also with the temperatures here and you never know what can happen with the weather," he continued.
In addition, with the combination of fast sections with a very twisty section, Verstappen suspects that finding the right set-up could be tricky. "It will be difficult to choose the right balance for the car. Overall, I think our chances are good, but of course we have to show it," said the reigning world champion.
