Update: no penalty for Ricciardo after wrong test start after FP3
- GPblog.com
It is not always been easy for Daniel Ricciardo this season. On several occasions the Australian had to acknowledge his superiority to teammate Lando Norris. Moreover, the McLaren is not the race winning car that was hoped for.
Wrong procedure
It is possible that Ricciardo will suffer a new setback in this not very successful season. The veteran would not have executed the correct procedure when practicing a test start. This is always done after FP3.
According to the journalist Chris Medland Ricciardo is blamed for making his test start while there was still a driver in front of him. According to the regulations, this is prohibited. A test start can only be made when there is no one in front of you on the same row. Moreover, you have to drive as far forward as possible.
Grid penalty?
It is still unclear whether Ricciardo will indeed receive a penalty and what it would be. The smiling Australian is undoubtedly not waiting for a grid penalty.
Update
Ricciardo excapes a punishment. He is reprimanded.
