Ferrari doesn't think about team orders yet: 'Adapt car to Sainz first'

At Ferrari, it seems increasingly likely that Charles Leclerc will be the clear number one driver in 2022. Carlos Sainz, partly due to two dropouts, is already far behind in the championship. However, Laurent Mekies indicates that team orders are still a long way off.
After the first five Grands Prix of 2022, Leclerc has already built a 51-point lead against his teammate Sainz. Leclerc's direct rival Max Verstappen also won the past two races, making the fight for the title fully back.
No team orders at Ferrari
Despite this, Ferrari does not want to think about team orders for the time being. Spanish journalist Cristóbal Rosaleny quotes Ferrari chief Mekies via his Twitter: "Are we close to team orders? No, I think it's still too early."
"We are pushing hard to make sure we adapt the car to Carlos," Mekies continued. According to the Frenchman, after five races it is far too early in the season to think about a number one status, but does indicate that this could change later in the season.
