Horner determined to defend world title of Verstappen

Red Bull Racing came out with the news on Tuesday that Sergio Perez will stay longer at the racing stable. The Austrian formation is making that decision for good reason, as Christian Horner says the Mexican is showing clear growth in his development.
After failed collaborations with Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon, Red Bull decided to put Perez alongside Max Verstappen in 2021. Whereas the driver was criticized several times for his performances during his first season, he is performing better and better. In the current world championship, the difference between Verstappen and him is only fifteen points.
Horner, therefore, did not find it a difficult choice to continue with Perez for longer, he says in an interview with Bloomberg. The pace-setter believes that both parties have a good working relationship and that this can only improve further in the coming years. "You know we've got a driver that's growing in confidence," notes Horner.

Horner also discusses Verstappen's title chances. "Well look I think it's you know we've got a chance. There's been the biggest regulation change this year for 40 years. The team's done a great job in adapting to those regulations. And having achieved that world championship last year with Max we're determined to defend it."
