Advantage Verstappen in title fight? 'He is much stronger than last year'

Davide Valsecchi has a lot of respect for the way Charles Leclerc is showing himself this season. The former GP2-winner is of the opinion that the Monegasque is not yet at the level of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, although this can come soon. He says so in an interview with OA Sport.
Last season, Formula 1 experienced a blistering season that remained exciting until the last race. Hamilton and Verstappen remained close throughout the year in the world championship, so a denouement came in the final race in Abu Dhabi. In it, the Dutchman drew the longest straw.
Although Valsecchi considers this season's fight between Verstappen and Leclerc of a different order, he will not be surprised if it comes down to the final race weekend again in 2022. "I think it will be decided in the last race and that is what the American owners want as well. Leclerc and Verstappen are similar," he explains.
Leclerc needs to gain confidence with victories
The Italian thinks Leclerc only lacks the confidence to really have a chance at the world title. "Verstappen is much stronger than last year, because the world title has given him rest. Leclerc needs to win a few more races to become the strongest in everything."
