Bottas looks ahead: "It could be a lot of fun on Sunday"

Valtteri Bottas seemed to be taking a step back with his departure from Mercedes, but in reality that is far from true. His new team Alfa Romeo has managed to fight its way into the midfield of the grid. The Finn expects the Italian team to score many points in Azerbaijan as well, he told Formula1.com.
In the past, Bottas was successful at the Baku street circuit. For example, he captured victory with Mercedes in 2019. A win does not seem to be possible for him this coming weekend, but a spot near the top five is among the objectives.
"We know we can fight towards the front when we do it and it has to be the aim here as well," Bottas said. "This is a track that can produce some chaotic races so we will need to be ready to make the most of any opportunity. It could be a lot of fun on Sunday."
Spectacular GP of Azerbaijan in 2021
Last season's race in Azerbaijan ended with a spectacle. Lance Stroll and Max Verstappen suffered a blowout, which prevented both drivers from completing the Grand Prix. Then Lewis Hamilton seemed to be able to take a lot of points, but missed the corner during the restart. As a result, Sergio Perez took the victory and Hamilton was left empty-handed.
