Sergio Perez, after winning the
Monaco Grand Prix, will be hoping that he can continue his winning ways over the coming months. It could ensure that the pressure on
Max Verstappen, who is fifteen points ahead of his teammate in the world championship, will increase. Emerson Fittipaldi expects another decent fight between the two drivers, he revealed in an interview with
Vegainsider.com.
"Red Bull is going fast, Verstappen is doing really well," judged the former
Formula 1 driver.
"Pérez is surprising us. He is in a very strong position. He just signed a new contract for a minimum of two years and he is running strong now. His position is going to put tremendous pressure on Verstappen. He's going to be a contender for the World Championship alongside Max now." Fight between Russell and Hamilton at Mercedes
Fittipaldi finds it interesting to see two teammates challenging each other. He doesn't only see this happening at
Red Bull Racing, because at Mercedes he believes this is also going on. Whereas
Lewis Hamilton has invariably been the best driver at the racing stable in recent years, this season he is having a hard time with
George Russell.
His compatriot managed to finish no lower than fifth overall in the first seven races, which means he is leading Hamilton in the world championship. The difference between the drivers is now up to 34 points.
