A year ago, Max Verstappen spoke openly about the problems he was experiencing with Red Bull Racing's 2024 challenger. Fast forward twelve months, and similar issues persist with the RB21. Christian Horner’s assessment in Bahrain was blunt: the problems are strikingly similar to those from last year. So, the question has to be asked—has Red Bull’s technical team been asleep over the winter?
Max Verstappen, however, isn’t willing to go that far. In a conversation with Dutch media, he made it clear that he doesn’t want to place blame on the engineers. According to Verstappen—speaking to both Dutch outlets and GPblog—the team is actively working to resolve the issues.
"Yes, they are still naturally working on it. That's not where we want to be, but well, what can you make of it? I could start yelling and throwing a fit, but that doesn't accomplish anything," says Verstappen.

Is Verstappen Losing Faith in Red Bull's technical team?

Despite finishing sixth in Bahrain last weekend, the Ducthman sits third in the 2024 standings on 69 points. The Japanese Grand Prix winner is just eight points behind leader Lando Norris and five points behind his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri.
Altough Verstappen has maximised his results so far this season, it's clear that Red Bull is not in a healthy spot like rivals McLaren as they battle with fundamental car issues.
The four-time world champion is then asked whether there might be a lack of confidence in Red Bull’s technical team."Ultimately, it's not really about confidence. I'm just trying to get the most out of everything and make the best of it. By 2026 we might just have it all figured out.
"But you can't always win everything. Unfortunately." He concluded.
