'Then I see that team as a good place for Ricciardo to end up'

Daniel Ricciardo's future at McLaren seems to become more uncertain with every race weekend. Consequently, there is intense speculation about a possible next team and F1 journalist Tom Clarkson thinks Aston Martin could just be his next team.
No success story yet at McLaren
Ricciardo and McLaren do not have a great marriage yet. Of course, there was the highlight at Monza in 2021 when the Aussie won the Italian Grand Prix, but since then the results have been below par. In 2022, Ricciardo seems to have even more trouble with his car than he had in 2021.
According to compatriot and former world champion Alan Jones, a contract in Formula One doesn't mean much and so Ricciardo could lose his seat sooner than what is currently in his contract. Of course, Ricciardo himself wants to regain his form and hopes to do so already at the Baku City Circuit.
Ricciardo in green?
Clarkson has been thinking about the whole situation surrounding Ricciardo and has already found a possible new destination for the Australian. Aston Martin currently has Sebastian Vettel under contract, but of him it is still uncertain whether he will continue beyond 2022. His contract expires after this season.
"If he [Vettel] leaves Aston Martin at the end of this year and if Daniel Ricciardo leaves McLaren, I see that as a good place for Ricciardo to end up," Clarkson says in the F1 Nation podcast. Although Aston Martin is still small, the Briton thinks the Australian will quickly get the team around him. "I think his personality would light up that place."
