Hamilton left in doubt: 'I can't tell you that'

Lewis Hamilton hoped to get off to a good start at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, but experienced a rough first day of the race weekend. Especially in the second free practice, the Briton's car did not go fast on the track, which he regretted afterwards.
Mercedes decided to make some adjustments to its car in the second practice session. However, that did not turn out to be a good plan, as Hamilton immediately suffered from porpoising again, losing a lot of time compared to the competition, making him over a second and a half slower than Charles Leclerc: the fastest in the session.
"I can't tell you one specific area which is costing us the 1.3 or 1.6 secs difference to the front," Hamilton analyzed in Mercedes' press release. "A lot of it seems to be on the straight but we need to get our heads down tonight and find solutions."
Concerns at Mercedes about Hamilton and Russell's performance
Andrew Shovlin also expressed his concerns about Mercedes' performance. Indeed, in addition to Hamilton, George Russell was also struggling in Baku. The German team has to work hard behind the scenes to prepare both drivers for Saturday afternoon's qualifying session.
