Full results FP3 Baku | Perez again fastest before Leclerc and Verstappen
- GPblog.com
Sergio Perez has also finished the third free practice session as the fastest. The Mexican was narrowly too fast for Charles Leclerc and currently seems to have the best papers for pole position in Baku. Max Verstappen came no further than the third time for Carlos Sainz.
Free practice started 15 minutes later due to repairs to one of the barriers along the track. It was damaged after a crash in Formula 2. At 12:15hrs BST, the first cars drove onto the track, looking for the ultimate set-up for qualifying later this afternoon. That qualifying session will also start 15 minutes later, at 15:15, due to the run-out of the third free practice session.
Huge gap between Red Bull/Ferrari and the rest
That Ferrari and Red Bull Racing are the dominant teams this season has been clear for a number of Grand Prix, but never before has the difference with the rest of the field been so great. Lando Norris set the fifth time in FP3, but did so 1.248 seconds behind Perez.
At the top of the timesheet, it is the usual suspects who call the shots. The four drivers from Ferrari and Red Bull eventually finish within just over four tenths of each other and are once again evenly matched. Perez was slightly faster than Leclerc with his 1:43.170, 0.070 second to be exact. Verstappen finishes on 0.279, but he had to abandon his last attempt for a fast lap due to traffic. Sainz eventually finished fourth at 0.426.
