Daniel Ricciardo still has great respect for the qualities of Lewis Hamilton. According to the Australian, the driver still has everything in him to achieve victories, which is why he does not rule out Hamilton winning next weekend in Canada.
Ricciardo has his hands full at McLaren this season, as his performance at the British racing stable continues to be disappointing. In conversation with the Daily Mail, he lets it be known that he also has his sights set on other teams and that the battle at Mercedes intrigues him.
Since the arrival of George Russell, the relationships within the team have been shaken up considerably. Whereas Hamilton got used to being the big man within the team in recent years, that has now changed. In the first eight races, Russell has performed much better.
Ricciardo retains faith in Hamilton
The McLaren driver, however, concurs with Toto Wolff's words by stating that Hamilton has not suddenly lost his qualities. Ricciardo therefore believes that Hamilton will need time to start looking after the points at Mercedes over the course of the season.
"I definitely think Lewis is as capable as ever," he let the English medium know. "We all knew George was quick, and it was just how quick is he? How good is he? And he is proving he is very good. But I also wouldn't count Lewis out for having the ability to win this weekend for example. I don't think he has lost anything, no, not at all."
