Webber sees third contender: 'They can fight back at any point'

The fight for the world title in 2022 is provisionally between Ferrari and Red Bull Racing. However, Mark Webber does not rule out the possibility that this will change over the course of the racing year and that Mercedes will enter the fray, he told Channel 4.
With Lewis Hamilton and George Russell Mercedes seem to have two drivers who should be able to fight for the lead in the world championship. For the time being, however, practice shows otherwise, because due to the disappointing performance of the car both drivers have to make do with midfield finishes. Nevertheless, Webber thinks there are still opportunities for Mercedes.
"Obviously it’s a big shift in their winning mentality mindset," Webber states to the medium. "It’s not happening for them, the car is clearly not performing under these new regulations. So they’ve got a mountain to climb, but you never underestimate them, they can fight back at any point."
FIA hopes to resolve problems with porpoising soon
For now, the biggest problem at Mercedes seems to be porpoising. It received good news from the FIA on Thursday, as the organization is working hard to fix the problems. For example, it is giving the teams a number of rules to help them come to a solution.
