Official: Alonso picks up penalty from Canadian Grand Prix

Fernando Alonso has received a five-second time penalty for swerving on the straight in his duel with Valtteri Bottas. The two-time world champion gets five seconds added to his race time, making him drop from seventh to ninth place.
Good day for Alfa Romeo
Thanks to his P7, Alonso could add a total of six points to the battle for the world championship this weekend, but that number has now been reduced to two. Alfa Romeo drivers Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou benefit. They both move up a spot.
The Spaniard will also receive a penalty point on his racing license. Alonso is currently on five penalty points in the past 12 months. As soon as he is at twelve pieces, there will be a Grand Prix weekend suspension.
