Gasly critical: "You can't control bad luck, but you can control mistakes".

AlphaTauri has had a rather uneven season so far. In Baku, Pierre Gasly finished a fine fifth, but the team has also scored zero points in three Grands Prix. With a seventh place in the championship the team is currently one place lower than where it finished last season. Can Red Bull's sister team turn the tide?
AlphaTauri gives away too many points
Driver mistakes, technical problems, strategic blunders and just plain bad luck have meant that AlphaTauri has not had the season it wanted so far. However, nothing is lost yet. The team is only 38 points behind Mercedes in fourth place in the championship and with thirteen races to go everything is still possible in theory.
Driver Gasly, however, is aware that there is still a lot to be done if the team are to compete for fourth place. "In Baku we showed we can be the fourth fastest team if we do everything right. It just has to work everywhere. You can't control bad luck, but you can control mistakes," the Frenchman told Auto Motor und Sport. According to the winner of the 2020 Italian Grand Prix, then everything should be perfect at AlphaTauri.
Fast corners are the enemy
In July AlphaTauri expects a major update, which should solve the car's current shortcomings. " Slow corners are our friend, fast corners are our enemy, " Gasly said. This means the team will have a difficult weekend at Silverstone. The circuit actually only has three slow corners. "The only thing that will help is an upgrade that gets rid of our weaknesses," said Gasly.
