Ferrari replaced several engines at Silverstone for themselves and the customer teams. Carlos Sainz and Guanyu Zhou in particular received many new engine parts, bringing both a step closer to a possible grid penalty in the future. Mink Schumacher also received a number of new engine parts.

The FIA has announced that Zhou and Schumacher will both start with a new ICE this weekend, which is their third new ICE. This is also the maximum number for the whole season. The same goes for the Turbocharger, MGU-H and MGU-K. Zhou will get a new variant of all of those parts, while Schumacher will get a new MGU-H and MGU-K after his failure in Canada.

Sainz a step closer to a grid penalty

Sainz is also one step closer to a grid penalty, as is team-mate Charles Leclerc who was forced to retire in Canada. Sainz will get a new TC, MGU-H and MGU-K. He has already replaced both of these parts once before and this gives him a third version of all three engine parts.

Finally, Zhou's teammate, Valtteri Bottas, will get a new MGU-K and the cars of Zhou and Leclerc will have a new Exhaust System (EX) installed. It is noticeable that only Ferrari installs new parts in Silverstone, while Mercedes, Red Bull Powertrains and Alpine all choose not to.
