English police warn of protests at Silverstone GP
- GPblog.com
According to the local police in Silverstone there are signs that a protest will take place during the British Grand Prix this Sunday. The police reported on Twitter that plans are being made to enter the circuit when twenty F1 drivers do their laps on Sunday afternoon.
"We have received credible intelligence that a group of protestors are planning to disrupt the 2022 Formula 1 British Grand Prix and possibly invade the track on race day." The police want to prevent people from endangering themselves, as well as those working in and around the circuit.
Danger to drivers and fans
It is stressed how dangerous it is to enter the circuit and that you are risking lives. At Silverstone, there was a protest decades ago when someone went onto the track on the Hanger Straight. That ended well and the police want to prevent a similar scenario taking place this Sunday.
