Sergio Perez is feeling less comfortable in the RB18 compared to the start of the season. Red Bull Racing's recent updates have left the Mexican uncomfortable.

Perez had to get going in his first season for Red Bull in 2021. By the end of the season, the Mexican was feeling increasingly comfortable within the team and in the car. The new 2022 regulations only made this better, but the team's recent updates have caused a small setback.

"I haven’t been as comfortable with it [the development of the car] as I was in the beginning, let’s put it that way. I think I’ve got some work to do to understand what’s going on and hopefully have a more straightforward weekend here in Austria," Perez tells The Race.

Perez has hope

Perez finished second at Silverstone after an intense battle with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. Max Verstappen finished seventh after damage to his car. However, after the race, the Mexican revealed that he was still suffering from his neck after the crash in Canada.

"I’ve had only two races [of this] and last weekend I wasn’t up to it, I was feeling pretty bad, so I think this is the first weekend where I will see really," Perez adds. So it will only become clear in Austria how comfortable the Red Bull driver feels in his car with new updates.
