McLaren says Norris will start in qualifying
- GPblog.com
Lando Norris does not have to worry about qualifying in Austria. His team reports that they have repaired the British driver's car, so there are no more problems.
McLaren had a difficult time during the first free practice. Both Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo failed to set a good time. To top it all off, Norris' car started to smoke. The driver caused a red flag and decided to go inside.
The team then worked hard behind the scenes to repair the car. Since a sprint race is on the program in Austria, McLaren has to do a qualification in the afternoon on Friday. It was therefore a race against the clock for McLaren to be ready in time.
After an issue in FP1, we've changed Lando's PU back to one in the pool and the car will be ready for qualifying. #AustrianGP

Norris fights for a good starting position in qualifying
However, the team managed to achieve this goal after all, which means Norris still has a good chance of a good starting position during the sprint race. For this to happen, however, the driver needs to set a good time in qualifying.
