Marko didn't get on Ricciardo's good side: 'There was no need'

Daniel Ricciardo still has a good relationship with Helmut Marko. According to Ricciardo, the Austrian has never spoken out after the Australian's departure.
Wrong choice by Ricciardo
For Ricciardo, it is a tough period in his Formula One career. The Australian had hoped for more from his time at McLaren and the team had also expected more from the eight-time race winner. It puts his future with the team under pressure and with it his position in F1.
Four years ago it all looked very different for Ricciardo. As a Red Bull Racing driver, he had the world at his feet and was considered one of the top drivers. However, he chose to leave Red Bull behind and ended up at McLaren via Renault in the current situation. Although Marko is a man of piquant quotes, Ricciardo says he is not out for an 'I told you so'.
No joke from Marko
''No – Helmut gave me a lot of shit over the years, so didn't need to sit down… after I left there was no need for that any more! I would say that obviously I have less interactions with Helmut these days but of course, I would say the relationship is still the same. It's very honest, very Helmut. My admiration or respect for the man has remained unchanged. He's a good guy. So, no, ‘I told you so’. That's part of the sport. And we'll move on,'' Ricciardo said at the press conference.
At the press conference Ricciardo did look back on his great period at Red Bull and the great caravan race he had with Max Verstappen at the Red Bull Ring. The McLaren driver has warm feelings about his period with the Austrian racing team.
