Peter Windsor, former F1 team and sponsorship manager said McLaren driver Lando Norris had done a 'secret' rally test. The McLaren F1 driver has since commented on the statements and rumours. Brown doesn't let Norris drive rally cars
In the Jeddah paddock, Norris was asked about the rumours that were circulating regarding his alleged 'secret' rally test. “I really wanted to come in here and just say 'yeah it’s true', and say 'yes'," said the Brit to media including GPblog.
"But it’s not. I said in some stuff I did last year or a couple years ago I’m not allowed, Zak (Brown, McLaren's CEO, ed.) doesn’t let me drive rally cars, probably for a good reason but I've said many times I would love to.”

'Rally drivers crazy and insane, but would love to do it'
Norris then questioned the media's practices and gave his two cents on the work professional rally drivers do. “So weird how people come up with such things in the media. That's how terrible it is sometimes rather than yeah just asking me before publishing things.
"But I have a lot of respect for rally drivers they are definitely just crazy and slightly insane. But I would love it because it's a very different aspect of comparing to what I do now, but it's still driving, it's still rallies, it's still cars and all those things."
Despite the danger implicated in rallying, Norris would love to try it out at some point. Maybe then it can become a headline.
"Probably a bit more on the dangerous side, so I don't know how much I would love it, but it's another thing in my life that I would love to tick off at some point and get to experience and have a go. So hopefully that that can become a headline at some point and can become the truth.”
