Former strategy engineer and now pundit Bernie Collins has had her say on the
George Russell and Red Bull rumours, saying that both of them would "fit together"
There have been
rumours and discussions surrounding Russell and Red Bull, with a possible collaboration on the cards when the Brit's contract at Mercedes expires at the end of the 2025 season.
No contract negotiations have taken place as of yet, but with the rumours that surround Verstappen's potential exit from the Austrian team to join Mercedes, it opens up the possibility for Russell to move garages to
Red Bull Racing.
With Kimi Antonelli a future prospect for Mercedes, Russell may be on the move if team boss Toto Wolff recruits Verstappen
Collins wants to see the contract negotiations go down
On Sky Sports'
The F1 Show, where Collins now works as a pundit, the Northern Irish woman first expressed her wish to be a fly on the wall and see what would occur during all these talks and negotiations.
“Why don't we have a Drive to Survive where we can watch the driver negotiations and see who does what and what actually comes to fruition in the next year or so?” she jokes first, before suggesting that it's wise for both Red Bull and Russell to explore the market.
“I think they're right to be putting the feelers out there of where the options lie. And if the swap happens, if it were Verstappen at Mercedes and Russell at Red Bull, because they're quite different characters for the team, aren't they?
"Red Bull are much more... With their music pumping in the garage, they're more like the fun team, if you think like that. On the other hand, Mercedes are more the professional team. The drivers sort of fit with that at the minute, and it would be a real reversal if it was the other way around," concluded Collins.
